The Local Food Network
of  Greater Newburyport

Local food group connects
farmers, foodies, and fun!

It's official — our local food/slow food group has a name and a home. We are still developing our website, but you can find us at www.gnlocalfoodnetwork.org/. Soon this site will be your social network for local food interests.

The Greater Newburyport Local Food Network is holding a meeting April 9th, 6:45 to 8:45pm at the First Religious Society Unitarian Church, 26 Pleasant St. in Newburyport.

Our Special Guest Speaker will be Russ Cohen, expert forager and author of Wild Plants I Have Known…and Eaten. He will present a slide show entitled Edible Wild Plants and Mushrooms of New England. It covers over 70 of the tastiest species the region has to offer.

Anyone interested in growing, preparing, buying, and eating good healthy local food is welcome to come. In addition, bring your old cookbooks or recipe cards to share or recycle with others during a cookbook swap at the end of the meeting.

Allyson Lawless, one of the founding members, said, "Since forming only two months ago our 'Local Food Network' has grown to over 125 members and its tag line 'connecting farmers, foodies, and fun' seems to have captured the public's imagination as blending the ingredients of buying it locally, having knowledge of its healthfulness, and the pleasure of good eating. The group seems to be proposing a delicious recipe"
